The Best VR Headsets for 2021

Virtual reality is a fascinating way of exploring using only technological power. VR lets you glance into a virtual space with a headset and motion tracking to make you feel you really are there, or you're playing games like you are in that world. Thanks to convincing games and experiences, it has gained momentum in recent years though it still seems very much in a state of imbalance, with headsets coming and going rapidly.

Oculus focuses its efforts on an independent VR headset (the Quest 2) but offers the option of using it as a cord PC. HTC has the tethered Vive Cosmos and the Vive Pro developer set. Sony has a PS4 PlayStation VR compatible system and Microsoft is using only a few third-party headsets to support the Windows Mixed Reality platform. Here's what all of them you need to remember about VR technologies.

Why is VR considered the best among gaming technologies?

Modern VR headsets are now configured into one of two categories: standalone or tethered. Tethered headsets like the Vive Cosmos by HTC, PlayStation VR and Valve Index are attached to PCs physically (or in the case of the PS VR, a PlayStation 4). The cable renders them a little difficult to manage but if you don't have to strap all the actual video processing directly on your forehead, it will be much harder for your VR experience.

Standalone headsets have maximum physical independence by cutting the cables entirely and without any external processing unit. The Oculus Quest 2 uses similar outboard cameras to include a 6DOF motion tracking and similar 6DOF movement controls with the Oculus Rift S. The processing power of a separate gaming machine is not the same but its mobile high-end processor can still shift some pretty detailed graphics.

Oculus Quest 2

The Oculus Rift was a prominent name behind the present VR surge, and Oculus still remains one of the leading players. The Rift S is however discontinued from the tiled VR headset, in order to concentrate fully on the independent Quest 2.

It offers an extensive VR experience with no cable (except for the headset) in a single bundle and currently provides the maximum resolution of any user VR headset at 1,920 per eye by 1,832. Two motion sensors are available for absolute 6DOF hand and head tracking. The VR software library is remarkably powerful in its onboard storage.

Sony PlayStation VR

The production and accessibility of the PlayStation 4 produced by Sony in comparison with gaming PCs is impressive. The headset, the PlayStation 4 and the camera are all necessary components.

There are some great Playstation VR games like Moss, Rez Infinite and Until Dawn: Blood Rush, and Five Nights at Freddie's: Help Wanted. Many DualShock 4 PlayStation VR games run, so you don't even need motion controllers. The headset also uses PlayStation Move walls from the period of PlayStation 3, which is more convenient than most VRs including the motion controls.

HTC Vive Cosmos

HTC's Vive Cosmos is the improved Vive headset variant with higher resolution and replacement of the external base stations with external motion-tracking cameras. It is an extensive VR package.

The Vive Cosmos functions in the same way as the Oculus Quest 2 with SteamVR and has its own VR software store as a Viveport. Viveport also offers membership in Viveport Infinity that offers unlimited access to VR experiences through subscription services rather than purchases of software.

Windows Mixed Reality

Microsoft has promoted its collaboration to develop a range of Windows 10-ready mixed reality headsets with various headset manufacturers. Windows Mixed Reality does not have too many convincing VR experiences as stocks in Rift and SteamVR, but on a Windows Mixed Reality headset, you can use SteamVR games, again, with some wrestling software.

It is a good option to visualize the virtual reality world but as great as to experience modern VR technologies.

Launch of Microgravity Gaming.

One other major upcoming player in the arena is Microgravity. It provides a world-class game experience for many players. They offer the best infrastructure & platforms the industry has to offer, whether you want to play with an up-to-date arena, or try your hand to compete with your mates in an e-sport league format.

They also have a competitive playing platform called the Microgravity Gaming League, in which all players who want to be the best can compete with each other. They strongly invest in building a flexible platform that allows the best to compete with the best. Recently the Microgravity Gaming League has promoted famous games like FIFA, Duty call and Free Fire to inspire young players.
